Alex Salmond has said he will step down after Scotland voted decisively to reject independence and remain part of the Union.
The Queen says it was “a result that all of us throughout the United Kingdom will respect”. David Cameron has promised a “new and fair” constitutional settlement for the entire United Kingdom.
Better Together leader Alistair Darling added that it was a “momentous result” for Scotland and for the United Kingdom as a whole.
